Abstract |
The objective of this study is to analyze the characteristics of interfacial adhesion between reinforcing fiber and inorganic filler in FRCC(fiber reinforced cement composite) by using slurry method. The study has demonstrated that the interface structure between reinforcing fiber and inorganic filler has significant effect upon the properties of FRCC. The air voids at the interface structure in the FRCC are filled by inorganic filler, not only improving the structural integrity of the matrices but also playing an important role in determining physical characteristics and mechanical properties of the FRCC. Slurry method was adopted to produce specimens in analyzing the properties of FRCC. Having analyzed the physical characteristics of FRCC, i.e., water absorption, tensile strength, flexural strength and toughness, integrity of the interface structure in the FRCC is found to be an important factor of the interfacial adhesion between reinforcing fiber and inorganic filler. According to the result of the experiment, mica in PVA(Polyvinylalcohol) fiber, talc in acrylic fiber, fly ash in carbon fiber and kaolin in epoxy-coated carbon fiber have been proved to be excellent filler materials in the respective FRCC.
This study has proved that use of appropriate filler material depending on the type of fiber is critically important in determining the characteristics of the interfacial adhesion between reinforcing fiber and inorganic filler. |
