Abstract This study is the fundamental report to propose the capability of discarded Bentonite by heat-treatment as concrete mineral admixture. The experiments are excuted pozzolan reaction test and mortar test.
As a result of pozzolan reaction test, discarded Bentonite is taken pozzolan reaction capability by heat-treatment, and especially, pozzolan reaction ability of discarded Bentonite is superior to the situation of 500℃?60min, 600℃?60min and 700℃?60min.
As a result of mortar test, , compressive strength of mortar using discarded Bentonite by heat-treatment is superior to the every situation than plain Mortar in the case of 500℃, 600℃, 700℃, 800℃?60min. Especially, in the case of 700℃?60min, as strength activity index is measured by 109%, it can be applied as concrete mineral admixture. But, flow of Mortar using discarded Bentonite by heat-treatment is decreased about 2.5cm in the case of 30min and about 1.7cm in the case of 60min.
