Abstract |
This research project is to provide those architects or planners with the guidelines of improving urban streetscape. To do so, in the series of previous study, we have made a study of elucidating correlationships between spatial consciousness and physical element in streets. To make the result clear, we have applied CG Simulation to this research so as to be able to estimate more definitely. And, based on our previous analyses, experimentation through physical elements' selective control by CG simulation is performed to the data for more agreeable street space planning. This process could clarify important element as well as relative value of variables. And the explanation of correlationships between space consciousness and physical element will be done clearly.
The research method using computer simulation has the merit to control variables selectively, and to make all the conditions the same if necessary. In making the CG images, the same visual angle (i.e. position of camera and image angle), different from the real situation, is possible to set, and a space construction is possible to add or delete freely in the same space model. Therefore, methodology through CG simulation can provide great benefits, not only saving cost and effort, but also analyzing the pure influence of a design factor by controlling other design factor. And digital data made by the process can be used to edit and remake easily, and can be possible to make the library and to reuse as research data continually afterward.
These results suggest that the new visual simulation method using computer graphics should be more useful tools. Furthermore, this methodology showed a new systematic method of space analysis. |
