Abstract |
Steel plates can be used as ductile dampers which dissipate the input energy by hysteretic behavior. Several types of steel plate dampers are experimentally tested depending on the number of slits in the dampers and loading characteristics. An experimental study was carried out for steel plate dampers to investigate flexural, shear deformation modes transfering into the inelastic range. The purpose of this paper is to study the characteristics of steel plate dampers having different geometrical configuration, such as energy dissipation capacity and hysteretic behavior in repeated inelastic deformations. Experimental tests indicate that all the tested dampers exhibited stable hysteretic behaviors and sustained an large number of yielding reversals(100 cycles). |
