Abstract This paper is to investigate the method that limestone powder which is made in producing cement, is used as cement mortar, admixture for concrete and fillers. Such limestone powder is composed of CaCO3 mainly, don't attack cement hydration product and prevent material separation by improving viscosity in fresh concrete. In hardened concrete, it is guessed that limestone powder improves compressive strength and water tightness. Therefore, in this study, the properties of cement mortar using limestone powder with variation of mortar mix ratio, replacement method and ratio of limestone powder is examined for effective use of limestone powder. According to the result, in proper replacement fine aggregate to limestone powder, it is effective to prevention of material separation and improvement of fluidity in lean mix. In hardened concrete, it shows improvement of strength and resistance of permeability in lean mix. Therefore it is analyzed that limestone powder is more effective when being used as fillers rather than binder.
