Abstract Establishing value system model of design participant in pre-design phase is useful for verifying design directions. Design direction and design criteria can be brought by on the basis of design participants' experience and recognition of idealistic value of building. Design participants' values are converted to design issues and subdivided to design goal, performance requirement and design concept. the value system of design participant is divided to overall value of building and building performance value. Overall value of building includes economic value, social value, cultural value, esthetic value and building performance value. Building performance value is composed of spatial performance, thermal performance, indoor air quality, acoustical performance, visual performance and building integrity performance.
