Abstract |
It seems inevitable to adopt subways as an alternative to conventional urban transportations due to the limited capacity of current road conditions and explosive expansion of road traffics. New subway lines are being planned and constructed nation-wide and the noises and vibrations are unavoidable byproducts. This study aims at providing useful data in establishing noise attenuation strategy for residential areas adjacent to outdoor subway train railways. Four residential areas were selected by a screen test on a subway train. The noise levels and frequency characteristics were measured and analyzed for three positions, chosen by doubling the distance from the railway in each area. Also, subjective reactions of residents at each area were investigated using questionnaires. The relationship between the measured noise level and subjective reactions of residents were analyzed and discussed. |
