Abstract Because of operating heating & cooling system and lunch program at schools, the energy consumption of school buildings is on the increase every year.
The enforcement of 7th Curriculum is another factor that increase the energy consumption of school buildings in terms of architectural upgrade and school program itself.
This study analyze the consumption of electricity, oil, gas and water for five years(1997~2001) by sampling 10 elementary schools, 10 middle schools, 33 high schools and 18 vocational high schools which are located in Daegu city. And this study also analyze yearly, monthly energy consumption by the use of some factors.
According to this study, the degree of the energy consumption is affected by the grade of schools. So to speak, high schools consume the energy the most of all. Also according to orientation of buildings and construction year, the consumption of the energy patterns have a few characteristics to affect.
The following are the Typical energy consumption in 2001: elementary schools 49,218(kcal/㎡/year), middle schools 27,841(kcal/㎡/year), high schools 60,714(kcal/㎡/year) and vocational high schools 33,091(kcal/㎡/year)
