Abstract Flexural analysis of a thin-walled I-section composite beam under uniformly distributed load is presented. A general analytical model applicable to the flexural behavior of a thin-walled composite beam is developed. This model is based on the classical lamination theory, and accounts for the coupling of flexural and torsional response of the beam for arbitrary laminate stacking sequence configuration. Closed-form solutions are given for symmetric and antisymmetric cross-ply and angle-ply laminates, and the solutions are compared with the available other results and ABAQUS showing that the present approach is appropriate for solving flexural behavior of composite beams.
