Abstract In Korea, heating system for apartment housing floor is applied with On-Dol heating system using hot water pipe. This system has undesirable defects such as cracks of cement mortar caused by drying shrinkage and uneven temperature distribution, although it has high thermal effect. Therefore, methods that can strenghten cement mortar for apartment housing floor to reduce the cracks by drying shrinkage and enhance the thermal conductivity are investigated with various fibers. According to test results, compressive strength and tensile strength increase by adding contents of copper fiber and steel fiber, while they show decline tendency using polypropylene fiber. Thermal conductivity also shows the same tendency as abone-mentioned. Both length change by drying shrinkage and the cracks of cement mortar show to be reduced remarkably as fiber contents increase regardless of fiber kinds. It is considered from the results of this study that copper fiber with 1% contents and 100 of aspect ratio tend to enhance strength, prevent the cracks caused by drying shrinkage and improve uneven thermal distributions of cement mortar of housing space.
