| Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to analyze the differentiation of urban space occurring in newtown housing planning and indicate the problems in the city design due to lack of consideration on differentiation. The newtown close to metropolis functioned as 'bed-town' merely and differentiated to local city which should have been merged with. For that reason, the newtown has not been helpful to solve the problems of the metropolis. For objective research, the space syntax theory is used to analyze the city of Anyang-Pyungchon, one of the newtowns near to seoul. The conclusions of this study are as follows: 1. Lack of consideration to the previous Anyang's city structure in the design of Pyungchon resulted structural and functional differentiation of urban space. 2. Computer simulation based on space syntax theory can be used into newtown design, so as to predict and avoid the structural differentiation of urban space. Futhermore, it will be great help to future newtown design. |
