Abstract Day care centers for the disabled are not operated as exclusive centers for the disabled only but as a part of welfare centers for the disabled or as social welfare centers. Most facilities being offered are not designed exclusively for the disabled and existing facilities are used for the disabled without any exclusive space for specific day care of the disabled.
The biggest problem that day care centers have is the accessibility problem, which was discovered by the analysis of variables that affect the availability ratio. Also, the services that the centers can provide, such as offering teachers with special education to the day care program, was also found as a factor that affects availability ratio.
These day care centers could be largely divided into separate building types, a one-stop center type, and an exclusive type. Among them, a one-stop center type building, such as a general welfare center for the disabled provides the largest variety of services. However, it is difficult for the one-stop center type building to provide an independent service system for the day care center for the disabled only. Furthermore, the rooms are mostly located on the corners and the efficiency of services seems to be low, which is to the demerit that should be complemented.
In addition, It is considered that space for day care services for the disabled should be concentrated on the ground floor where it is the most convenient use for the disabled and which would increase the efficiency of services.
