Abstract |
This paper intends to study the characteristics of the contemporary urban collective housing of Jean-Pierre Buffi's Bercy in terms of urban context. Since the 1970's, the typology of contemporary urban collective housing tends to revive the traditional style of perimeter bloc housing in order to maintain the urban spacial structure. The site planning by APUR at ZAC of Bercy Area in France requires to be applied with the same concept as the guideline. However, commissionary Architect Jean-Pierre Buffi proposes the alternative theory to take advantages of both a traditional style and a modern style, not only the theory of traditional style for general guideline. As a result, the distinctive characteristics of Jean-Pierre Buffi's Bercy can be summarized as fallows : acceptance of existing urban context, revitalization of street space for civilian's community, reintroduction of street, the opened city bloc, etc. |
