| Abstract |
Outdoor lighting at night on the waterfront in the metropolitan city can improve the city beautification. Seoul, the capital city in Korea, has great potential for the impressive night scenery because of the beautiful Han river that across the city. However, careless outdoor lighting to the bridges of Han river can diminish the beauty of the urban environment by night. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the effects of the outdoor lighting the bridges in Han river for improving the city beautification in Seoul.
For the purpose, field study was performed on the selected bridges, And bridges' lighting effect which includes light source, luminaires, color temperature was analyzed. As results, outdoor lighting of the bridges in Han river requires systematic plan that can creates harmonious night landscape. Pattern and finish material of the lighting objects, neighbor environment, color of light source, color temperature, intensity of light, proper lighting methods were needed to be considered. |
