Abstract Six steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete beams and six steel fiber reinforced normal strength concrete beams with stirrups were tested by two point load. The variables studied in this investigation are the flexural steel ratio of = 0.97, 1.5 and 2.2%, steel fiber volume fractions of Vf = 0, 0.5% and 0.75% and concrete compressive strengths of fck = 630kgf/cm2, and 310kgf/cm2.
Based on these tests and earlier published studies, predictive equation is proposed for evaluating the flexural strength of steel fiber reinforced concrete beams with stirrups. The proposed equation gave good prediction for the flexural strength of the tested beams.
Addition of fibers incresed the ultimate flexural strength and ductility. It was shown that fibers control the cracking, and also the deflection.
