Abstract |
A composite beam, TEC Beam was developed to reduce the story height of the high-rise structures. It has the advantages of steel structure such as less construction time, flexible layout, and long span. Even though it was efficient as a simple composite beam, there are several difficulties such as fabrication of structural tees, moment connection with RC column, and precast beam. In this study, iTECH(Innovative, Technical, Economical, and Convenient Hybrid) composite beam is proposed. In this system, the top flange for tension is added to improve the seismic performance, joint capability, and workability. And the web opening is added to satisfy the composite behavior and to make a room for the duct arrangement. For the joint of iTECH beam to RC column, a column through type connection is proposed. In the proposed joint, the connection plate connects both flanges of iTECH beam through the RC column. To verify the structural behaviour at the joint, cyclic loading tests are performed. The test results are analyzed in terms of failure mode, crack, strengh, stiffness, ductility, and energy dissipation. It could be concluded that the proposed joint showed enough strength and ductility and can be applicable in the field. |
