Abstract The purpose of this study is to provide useful information about effective workplace planning and management by evaluating existing office work environment. The data were collected by surveying 200 employees from 2 large corporations in Seoul. Office workers perceive that improvements of office layouts would enhance creativity and efficiency in team projects. The results indicate that renovations have improved the quality of overall work environment; but, the privacy appeared as a major element for employees' satisfaction. The analysis identified that employees' satisfaction in personal workstation and office layout is strongly correlated with employees' satisfaction in overall workplace. This study suggests that the space factors such as workspace size, arrangement of furniture, degree of privacy, density of people, type of workstation, etc. are important for workplace satisfaction.
