Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to find the basis of the irregular facade design by Giulio Romano focusing on the Palazzo del Te. Due to the difference of it from any other Renaissance palazzo, it is impossible to analyze its facade with the rules of proportion, and it is necessary to notice other methods of the facade composition. Therefore they are the relation between interior and exterior and the symmetry that are presumed as the composition bases of the facade, and the analysis is tried on them. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that Romano designed the irregular facade of the Palazzo del Te on a reasonable bases. Therefore it can be ascertained that the irregular facade has another meaning in addition to the general view that Romano broke the established rules for the purpose of license, instability, transgression or anti-classic. |
