Abstract |
Outdoor service facilities in permanent rental housing must be managed and improved continuously according to the change in inhabitants and social circumstances. This study aims to propose methods of adaptive reuse of these outdoor service facilities through analyzing present planning and use of facilities such as parking facilities, sports facilities, playgrounds for children and landscape area. Parking facilities turned out to be in need of more space, while the spaces for sports facilities and playgrounds were relatively sufficient. Thus a mutual usage among them can be a solution to enhance the use and quality of the facilities as a whole. When this conversion still does not provide sufficient space, the method of utilizing public facilities such as adjacent parks, green areas and schools, using them in connection with those of the housing, can be applied. In order to get a socio-physical sustainability through improving quality of residential environment according to the changes in social condition, it is important to look into the adaptive reuse method of outdoor service facilities in housing complexes. Through obtaining good quality of residential environment its sustainability can be achieved, and this study provides guidelines for its realization. |
