Abstract |
It is essential that the performance of the building and their parts is considered not only in their new conditions but especially throughout their service lives. Service conditions may change during a building's lifetime, materials and systems may degrade, and even standards of acceptabilities may alter. We conducted an extensive electronic literature search and reviewed relevant publications worldwide. This study is to suggest a service life prediction model based on the performance of the building. The model involve the performance concept, that is, the decreasing rate of the building performance per year is equal. On the contrary, the increasing amount of the building performance made by remodeling activities including replacement and alteration of deteriorated elements, components and/or systems of the building varies significantly according to the remodeling scope and invested money, etc. The service life of the building would be decided based on the allowable least performance, which is about 10% of the performance level at the first occupied year. |
