Abstract This study focuses on architectural conception of Lee Eun-Juk who influenced the architecture of Youngnam province in 16th century. He was a leading scholar who established the Confucian Metaphysics in early Chosun and an architect who expressed his perception of the world through his buildings at the same time. He tried to design and build various and new types of buildings like Muchumdang, Dokrakdang and Hyangdan through his life. He sought after "new" types of architecture to characterize Sarim power, to establish the ideal Confucian society and to distinguish his family from Son's family in Yangdong village.
As a foresighted man, he suggested his own creative way of Youngnam province architecture in a rapid changes of society. Considering his influence in the Sarim power and the time, the early 16th century, his buildings have an important meaning at Youngnam province architecture because the world view of Sarim power was showed in the process of his works and the characteristics of the times that pursued the new Confucian space was also revealed through his works.
