Abstract |
At present there happen to be unbalanced development between old town center and new urbanized areas. Therefore we tried to make efforts to solve the problem of the declined town centers in particular the doughnut phenomenon. Pedestrian mall and promotional event could be one of the solutions of urban regeneration in old town center. With these consideration in mind, we focused on the analysis of correlation between the physical planning factors and the spatial requirements for events when the mall is designed. The purpose of this study is to find out the characteristic of physical planning elements in the pedestrian malls where cultural events provided. This study consists of following four parts; First, the planning strategies for the regeneration of old town center, in particular performance of events in pedestrian malls are reviewed. Second, two-case areas in Daejeon metropolitan city were analyzed in terms of physical factors(4) and event-space factors(3). Third, the case-study was analyzed the activation on selected site and the satisfaction by interviewing the users. Fourth, the correlation analysis between physical factors and event-space factors was carried out. As a result, we were able to explain the characteristics of physical elements and event-space qualitatively and quantitatively through these case-study and correlation analysis. |
