Abstract Researches on a creation of a shape and design actions for resolving design problems in the domain of architecture design are heavily influenced by theories of recognitive psychology and artificial intelligence, and their results. Such studies made possible developments of design working modes and design-supplementary tools which are able to enhance a creation and a productivity in design practices, and have formed the basis of creative design education plan. However, though a design thinking by intuition is a key to design procedures its definition has not been clarified. In addition as creations of a design concept and an image of a shape at the first stage of the design and processes of new image creation at the intermediate stage can hardly be explained, few researches on them have been done by now. The most essential part of human thinking might be a capability to find or create new things from all available knowledges. The study establishes sub-processes helping creative design thinking using such a metaphorical mechanism and then suggests a metaphorical model as a generative method utilizing shape grammar.
