Abstract |
Based on study on forty-nine main worship halls of Buddhist temple with a multi-cluster bracket style in the 17th century, this study analyzes proportional systems among parts of the building by a statistical method. For the analysis of the buildings, first, the study classified each building by the number of Kan (3×2間, 3×3間) and the roof style (gable roof, hipped and gable roof). Then, buildings with the same number of Kan were also classified by the roof style. Based on the classification, the study tried to do correlation analysis to find any proportional systems between the part and the whole structure or among parts. First, the study tried to find out whether there is any specific proportional system among parts in measurements or not. Then, the study tried to figure out any relationship among parts by establishing a correlational system formula with a linear regression method. Next, the study examined that any proportional system is absolute and is applied universally to most buildings by a comparative analysis on the buildings according to the number of Kan and roof style. This study provides basic data to understand the proportional system of traditional buildings and traditional building rules of Korea in the situation of no explanatory textbook for traditional building methods available. |
