Abstract |
The H.S.S.(Hybrid Splice Sleeve) System is a unique mechanical connection device for splicing reinforcing bars in concrete construction. Typical applications include precast concrete elements and cast-in-place concrete structures. It is a convenient alternate to lap splices and welded splices. The H.S.S. consists of a straight steel cylinder with internal ridges that is filled with non-shrink grout mortar and a coupler that is screwed onto the threaded rebar. In this paper, the structural performance of splice of reinforcement with H.S.S. is experimentally investigated. The test program was carried out on 21 specimens with three kinds of bar sizes(D25, D32, D35). The behavior of H.S.S. system is observed under monotonic loading, repeated loading, and cyclic reversed loading. As a result of estimation, H.S.S. fulfills the requirements of domestic code and ACI318-95 which mechanical connections have less than 125% of the specified yield strength of the rebar, and retains at least A-graded performance, such as strength, stiffness, ductility, slip, under Japan code. |
