Abstract |
This study was intented to improve housing supply ratio as housing policy indicator. During the past years, we have experiencing severe housing shortage, housing policy was targeting for enormous housing construction. Since 1970, housing supply ratio was solely housing policy indicator. But, as housing supply ratio raised up from 78.2 percent in 1970 to 96.2 percent in 2002, current housing supply ratio are revealed some limitations in concept, calculating, and application. It has two problems, one is definition of both household and dwelling unit are not rather articulated, the other is internationally comparative aspects. Under current method, it does not explain to dynamic housing market, low-income family with housing affordability problem, and national housing standard. Therefore, alternative indicators is need to present more housing matter information, for example housing affordability index with current housing survey system improvement. Also, we show four specific alternatives that will enhance through further research in the future. |
