Abstract |
This paper examines the characteristics of electric hot air heating system using off-peak electricity and compares the heating characteristics of electric radiant heating system. And we examined the comfort of occupants by either measuring the indoor air temperature distribution in experimental space with the heating systems, or calculating the indoor thermal comfort indexes like PMV, PPD, MRT, ET*, and SET*. From this study, we obtained the brief results as follows. The electric hot air heating system with thermal storage have several advantages, one of which is to be able to maintain the optimal indoor temperature in a very short time at the beginning of heating due to the radiant heat transfer and the control of indoor temperature deterioration. The results show that during day-time, difference of temperature between the upper and lower space was relatively big to around 4℃ in the electric radiant heating system without thermal storage. As the result of calculating thermal comfort indexes of indoor thermal environment equipped with either electric hot air heating system with thermal storage or electric radiant heating system, each spaces equipped with one of them maintained favorable indoor thermal environment, except indoor thermal environment indexes exceeded the optimal thermal scope from the outset of heating to stabilization of indoor temperature in the space equipped with electric radiant heating system. |
