Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to improve J.C. Archea's Visual Access and Exposure Model(VAE model) which analyzes the potential of visual access and visual exposure. This thesis points out two problems concerning Archea's VAE model. First, there are two inconsistent way of seeing in the model. To solve this problem, the expected value method was proposed. The second problem is that Archea thought every point is equally observed. To solve the second problem, a new indicator, visual access effectiveness was proposed. The visual access Effectiveness $E$, which is the ratio of the maximum observable area within a visual cone to the isovist area, indicates the potentials for coping with events and activities in the setting. Verification of the model was conducted using Choi Jaepil's data. Choi coud not find statiscally meaningful results with Archea's model, but with the modified model meaningful results were found using the same data and settings. In summary, the results of verification establishes the validity of the modified model and shows the the possible ways of replacing Archea's model. |
