Abstract It is important to evaluate more accurately the toughness of beam column connections because of increase in use of high strength steels for columns of steel structures recently. In this study, tests to investigate the toughness of steel beam to high strength steel column connection were performed. The major findings of the study are summarized as follows. First ; Deformation ability of high tension steel beam column connection is increased depending on the panel stiffness, bolts arrangement and strength of column and beam. Especially, column to beam connection has more deformation ability with non scallop type than other ones. Second ; The fabrication welding style which effected by joint detail form is superior to field welding style one with more than 10% of maximum load and 40% of plastic strain.
