Abstract |
The classical composite beam, which consists of steel beam with concrete slab, is widely used in Korea due to the simple construction, fewer man-hours and no formwork. However the height of the composite beam is deeper than that of the reinforced concrete beam. That is why the commercial and high-leveled residential building needs less story height structural system. In this paper investigates newly a developed structural system called the Innovative, Technical, Economic, and Convenient Hybrid System (iTECH system). iTECH has asymmetric steel assembly with web opening, where top plate is welded on top of inverted T shape steel cut as 'honeycomb' type. The steel assembly is fabricated in the factory and both sides of web and slab are filled with cast-in-site concrete. To apply iTECH composite beam in practice, the evaluation of shear strength has to be verified by experiment. Therefore four specimens is tested. Parameters were determined by following four factors ; (1) steel web, (2) concrete inner panel, (3) concrete outer panel, (4) shear stirrup. The steel web, the inner concrete panel, and the outer concrete panel contributed to the shear strength of iTECH. However, the shear stirrup did not contribute much to shear strength, so a design equation using steel web and inner concrete panel was suggested. |
