Abstract |
In this study the inelastic time history and pushover analysis are carried out for estimating both global responses such as system ductility demand and local responses such as story ductility, interstory drift, plastic hinge formation, to evaluate the seismic performance of a high-rise steel moment resisting frame. An improved and effective method is proposed to determine inelastic seismic demands and to evaluate the seismic performance based on the representative responses of a multistory building in this paper. The objective of this study is to verify the applicability and validity of the proposed method by comparing current methods for prediction of inelastic seismic responses and evaluation of seismic performance for a building structure. The global and local seismic responses resulted from the proposed method are compared with those from the Capacity Spectrum Method(ATC-40, 1996) and other method such as modal pushover analysis(MPA) by Chopra and Goel(2001). And in order to demonstrate the accuracy and effectiveness of the present work, seismic demands estimated by the proposed method are compared with system ductility demand, plastic hinge formation, interstory drift and story ductility demand obtained from the inelastic time history analysis. |
