Abstract |
This paper is concerned with the natural periods of reinforced concrete apartment buildings. It describes the vibration measurement methods employed for testing buildings and presents reliable methods of assessing natural period from micro tremor and man powered vibration. Data from measurements on 22 buildings in Seoul are given. 22 buildings are tested by micro tremor measurements to obtain the natural periods. Man powered vibration test are carried for 9 of 22 buildings to verify the natural period obtained by micro tremor measurements. The natural periods show a definitely clear dependence on building height and story. Regression formulas of natural period for apartment buildings are suggested in the short and long direction respectively. Formula of natural period of extra structure in KS standard is well consistent with measured data than that of moment resisting structure. |
