Abstract |
Compared with the life span of the apartment house in European nations, which ranges from 60 to 100 years, that in Korea is incredibly short. This brings to the surface the issues such as waste of resources and energy. Reconstruction is considered when the physical durability hits the bottom. Repairs or extensions are made for the following reasons when there is room for a floor area ratio: economic and social reasons, life style matters, the appropriateness of the area, and limitations of functional durability. As mentioned above, the functional life is as important as the physical life. In particular, unlike other components, the life span of structures is exceptionally long and they do not age rapidly. For this reason, it is important to develop a method to maintain the components of rooms in the house in a systematical manner, serving the ultimate goal - elongating the functional life. As part of environmental-preserving policies, this study attempts to present the basic information crucial for the implementation of long-life houses by seeking MC and LC design application methods to extend the functional life of the components of the room in the apartment houses which is easy for remodeling and also to adopt territoriality and hierarchy. |
