Abstract |
The purpose of this paper is to clarify the longest-term householder's ideas of settlement, that is, a house guardian deity, in traditional urban area focused on Seongan-dong and Jungang-dong in Cheongju City of Korea. As a results, the summaries of findings are as follows : 1. The longest-term householders have been existing over 35 years(in case of resident registration) in the historical urban area. Most of them are over 60 years old and have been succeeded by family members. More than half of householders occupy their dwelling houses combined with shop and business uses. 2. We found those who are proud of a house site and asked them about ideas of settlement by questionnaire, and it made sure that they hope to live in there for a inheritance, site conditions, and so on, while we could understand that the site not be succeeded to next generations in near future 3. We found those who are not proud of their dwelling houses and asked them about renovations by questionnaire, and it made sure that they hope to remodel and build their dwellings for deterioration, small-sized rooms, and so on. These new-built houses occupy family members and houses combined with shop. |
