Abstract This research aimed to determine the color scheme of Korean traditional architectures in combination with the colors from their surroundings, based on 17 case studies. The color of architecture from the front view of the building and its background colors were analyzed using the Aesthetic Measure Theory by Moon & Spencer. In addition, the features of the color scheme were analyzed using the color scheme palettes classified according to use.
Results show that Koreas buildings blend well with their respective natural environments. Likewise, their well-concerted background colors and color control features give people a feeling of beauty and stability. In addition, Korean traditional architectures reflect the religion and thoughts of the era. Finally, they have various color scheme palettes and features of color scheme according to use.
