Abstract This study aims to analyze the problem of cognition of technology in the realm of architecture under the title of 'Theory of Technology in Architecture'. On the account of it, the established academic analysis and intellectual fruit helped to setting the base of study. With the help of them and through the inductive reasoning, this paper showed that there are three types relationship between architecture and technology that could not applied to another field. The first generated by the tectonic character of architecture, and the second is related with the document produced by architects, and the last is connected with the tactile experience and mutual response between the body and the real space. And then in a line of logical connection, Mies van der rohe's cognition of technology in the Modern age was analyzed. The final tabulation shows that his Idea hailed two times 'die Kehre', the first related with the study of philosophy of technology by Dessauer, Guardini and some other philosophers. The study reveals that the essence of technology lies in process and fulfillment of the system. The second turning point related with the changed environment of the world including the emigration to America and with the influence by the Scholasticism. At last, Mies van der rohe established his main architectural concepts such as 'Order' and 'Universality'
