Abstract The Dongdaeja vestiges in Jian is the only dwelling one of Three-Kingdom period in Korea. Therefore, it is very important in the studies on the architectural history of Korea. This study has the purpose that studies on the architectural characters on Goguryo' dwelling through the Dongdaeja vestiges. The results as follows ;
Three buildings were excarvated in this vestiges. The arrangement of buildings has the character as block plan, the main and the secondary buildings were arranged by a prescribed plan. The central building has the floor plan that is consist of two rooms, a throughfare between the two rooms, and a corridor enclosing the rooms. In the structure, this building has twofolded structural frames. The on is as the wall of two rooms, the other is the structural frame which made by the columns of the corridor. The architectural characters of the Dongdaeja dwelling were succeeded by the one of Balhae Kingdoms. But the dwelling of Joseon Dynasty is very different from that. Therefore, the Dongdaeja dwellings shows a change course of the Korean dwellings according to the times.
