Abstract |
During the Kobe earthquake in 1995, many steel buildings suffered from fracturing around the bottom flange in the welded moment connections. For fractures of the connection at the bottom flange, the contribution of the slab to the connection has been investigated. New retrofit methods to a existing composite beam have been proposed. The tests results have shown that the deformation capacity of composite beams was about 1/2 that of bare steel beams. Horizontal stiffener detail has improved the deformation capacity of composite beams. |
