Abstract The mixed building structures of upper wall-lower frame system are generally composed of shear wall structure in the upper part of structures used for residential space and frame structure in the lower part of structures used for commercial space centering around a transfer system. These structures are characterized by an irregularity such as stiffness irregularity, mass irregularity, and vertical geometric irregularity. This study shows seismic performance and structural behavior characteristics of the mixed building structure through a nonlinear pushover analysis. And in this study, it is proposed to present the basic data of safe and economical seismic analysis and seismic design for the mixed building structures. Idealized three-dimensional mixed building structures, various models of which the number of stories of upper and lower structure vary respectively, are selected for an example model used for nonlinear analysis.
