Abstract |
There are some critical problems in the existing cold storage warehouses in Korea such as surface or interstitial condensation and penetration of moisture into the thermal insulation which inevitably results in raising energy cost during their operations and shortening their lifetimes, which are caused by improper usage of vapor barriers. To solve these problems, at first this study classifies the envelope systems of cold storage warehouses into three types according to their construction of thermal insulations through site surveys on the existing warehouses. Next, suitable dampproofing materials are suggested which can be applied to each type of envelope systems through the experimental analysis of the property of moisture permeability and economical evaluations by value engineering methodology. Finally, the most effective construction methods of dampproofing layers by their locations and executing procedures are suggested. |
