Abstract This paper aims to understand the spatial system of today's social information institution in relation to the change in the information selection theory. In particular, the value oriented selection theory which had been dominant in the past has been replaced by demand oriented selection theory in recent libraries, and consequentially its architectural space is being user-oriented.
This user-oriented tendency has coupled with today's information society to render new spatial system, which has been analyzed in terms of core space, connection and boundary in this research. The core space of today's social information institution has become three-dimensional and jointly collaborated showing transitional and specialization space system. The re-organization and nodal character of information space has induced the exteriorization and urabanization of the connection space system. And finally, the complex program of nowaday libraries brought about the three-dimensional and networked environment in boundary space.
