Abstract |
The purposes of this study were to assess the residential satisfaction of no-charge welfare facility for the elderly, and to examine the effect of the integration with community. The data were collected from staffs and 51 residents of welfare facility by interview and questionnaire. The data were analyzed by percentage, frequency, and mean to identify the residential satisfaction. 84 percents of the respondents were female, a half of them were aged over 75 years old, and 75 percents of them were non-educated. 42 percents of the elderly considered themselves to be unhealthy, but the ADL data revealed that they were relatively healthy. Most of residents were highly satisfied with welfare facility as a whole. But, the levels of satisfaction on the size of room, the bathroom, and the storage space were relatively low than others. These dissatisfactions could be solved by the expanding of the storage space and setting up more electric cooking stove, and expanding a common washing room. Also more number of benches was needed for increasing the level of residential satisfaction. The resting space must be keeping comfortably, because most of residents use this space more than other spaces, and it is recommended for resting space not only Ondol-style, but also western style. The residents responded positively to the integration with community facility. This integration promotes the interaction among generations, and contributes to stabilization of emotion for the elderly. Therefore it is desirable to open the welfare facility of the elderly to the community. |
