| Abstract |
This study is to analyze the trends of expressing architectural forms in contextual approach about the local Theme Museums in Japan. Design by the contextual codes has been considered as an appropriate way to revitalize the regional identity being weakened in these days. After a theoretical study about 'Context', a statistical analysis was processed about the correlations between the types of the locations and the types of forms related with the elevation. At the last stage of the study, the specific methods for expression were case studied. As the result of the research, the criteria such as number of layers, the types of vertical piling and the types of massing were presented as being interrelated with location types. On the other hand, those criteria such as the gross area, the shape of the roof, the shape of the elevation, the??pattern of the surface and building height were presented as low in correlation. The various expression methods like unifying with the land,??applying the configuration of the ground to the shape of the building, using the clear or reflective materials and dividing the mass into small scale were researched. |
