Abstract |
The main purpose of this study is to propose a new diaphragm of CFT square column-to-beam connections and evaluate structural capacities of existing and new diaphragms with experimental approach and F.E.M. analysis. The existing diaphragms are interior and through types, while the proposed type is a combined cross diaphragm. The combined cross diaphragm is made up of a through diaphragm in the strong-axis direction and an interior diaphragm in the weak-axis direction. Five tension specimens are made and tested for an idealized tension side of full CFT square column- to-beam connections to evaluate structural capacities. Also analytical simple tension tests for three specimens of the existing diaphragms and combined cross diaphragm are analyzed by F.E.M program. As the results of the experiment and analysis, it is clarified that the combined cross diaphragm proposed in this study have good performances with respect to ultimate strength and initial stiffness compared with the existing diaphragms. |
