Abstract This purpose of this study is to evaluate seismic performances of CFT square column and H-shaped beam connections. Total of 4 full-scale specimens were tested to verify seismic performances according to ANSI/AISC SSPEC2002 loading program; interior diaphragm, through diaphragm and combined cross diaphragm w/o sleeve reinforced. The combined cross diaphragm is proposed to transmit stress directly and support asymmetry tensile stress with ductile behavior. The proposed diaphragm was satisfied 0.03 radian of inelastic rotational requirement in special moment frame of AISC seismic provision without brittle fracture or large stress concentration at the critical section. Also, It is showed??demonstrated that the proposed diaphragm are higher strengths and plastic deformation capacities to absorb seismic energy compared with existing diaphragms.
