Abstract An analytical method is proposed for the analysis of the reinforced concrete flexural members subjected to high temperatures. The analysis procedure for the structural response due to the temperature, in this study, is subdivided into two independent steps: sectional analysis and member solution. In the sectional analysis, the effects of the temperature change and the nonlinear temperature distribution at the section are considered. A segmentation scheme is employed in the sectional analysis. It implicates uniform sectional properties and temperature distribution through the longitudinal axis of the member. The structural capacity at hte section is calculated in this step. On the other hand, the effects of the temperature change are considered in the member solution. The changes of mechanical properties calculated at the segmented section are integrated into the member behavior at the member solution step. An application of this method is performed and compared with the fire test result for simple supported beam which is subjected to ASTM E119 test fire. The comparison indicated that the proposed segmentation method presents fairly a good agreement with the experiment.
