Abstract This study purposes to find out what order of building layout in India and India-origin temples have, and what the main reason is in case of being a change - from the concentric to longgitudinal building layout. Since the world- view and the mandala of Buddhism and Hinduism present the concentric layout and a building guide "vastu shastras" and a urban planning guide "mansara“ suggest this order as a basic model of building and urban layouts, the order of building layout in India and India-origin temples seem to have the concentric layout as a basic order. As getting to the late period, there is a change into the longitudinal building layout. The change resulted from fact that a outdoor space or building for worship-"mandapa"-are located in front of sanctuary- "vimana". Also, the addition of this buildings due to have a space for worship with no interference of climate such as the hottest season or the rainy season in India.
