| Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to analyse and evaluate “Urban Design Control System" in Japanese municipal government (Yokohama). Yokohama is one of advanced city in the field of urban design in Japan. In Yokohama, urban design control system is included to zoning system, various pre-review systems, height control and incentive zoning. Under urban design policy, administrative discretionary-power is so strong to pursuit for it in Yokohama. As a conclusion, the experience of Japanese cases shows us the way how to control and what is important for urban design control in municipal government. There are various design control systems depends on district's characters. These complex- system is a quite important to make it more flexible and efficient to control urban design. |
