Abstract This paper describes a laboratory investigation of the strength and behavior of composite deck slab system during construction and using the building after construction. Seven specimens were tested to determine the structural capacity during construction composite deck slab for Test-1. Major parameters are the type of truss, the size of the main steel bar(D10, D13), the type of construction load and whether deck slab is cambered or not. Test-Ⅱ is to determine structural strength of the deck slab in using after construction, fourteen specimens were used for Test-Ⅱ. The results were as follows; (1) the ratio of recovery is over the 98.59%, 97.73%, (2)the triangle truss is excelled than flat truss by comparison ratio of recovery and maximum deflection, (3) the residual deformation ratio are satisfied the ACI Code, AIJ Code, BS CP110 Code and the DIN 1045 Code, and (4) From the test results of Test-Ⅱ, the early elastic curve is governed by slab thickness, the specimen slab thickness 15cm is higher than 12cm thickness. When thickness of composite deck slab was increased, maximum strength was improved. The mean value of maximum load was increased to 1.21 times with the distance of truss bar was reduced from 20cm to 15cm.
