Abstract This paper is to investigate the applicability of bleeding reducing type AE water reducing agent(BRA), which is manufactured by combining viscosity enhancing agent with specific proportion to reduce bleeding of concrete. According to test results, optimum mixture proportion of BRA is fixed to 1:3 of water reducing agent to MC viscosity enhancing agent, based on the results of test. Under above mixture proportion, concrete??maintains the similar fluidity and air content level of conventional concrete and reduce the bleeding considerably. increasing of BRA dosage results in reducing bleeding in proportion to the dosage, and bleeding amount of concrete incorporating BRA is decreased by 30-50% compared to that of plain concrete. For the effects of BRA on the settlement of concrete, settlement occurs in all concrete between 60 minutes since placement of concrete. However, use of BRA shows the reducing of settlement. For compressive strength, remarkable strength difference is not found with and without BRA. Within the scope of the paper, it is found that BRA has a desirable effect on reducing bleeding without quality deterioration of concrete.
